At the intersection of Old Post Road, established in 1666, and Bush Neck Road, established in 1670, there were a tavern and a relay point for stagecoaches in the 18th century. In 1835, a nearby stop on the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad was named for Aberdeen, Scotland, birthplace of the first station master. Hall’s Cross Roads, Mechanicsville, and Aberdeen incorporated as Aberdeen in 1893.
