Conejos Peak is a 13,179-foot mountain in Colorado’s southern San Juan Mountains, within the Rocky Mountains and the South San Juan Wilderness of Rio Grande National Forest. About 19.6 miles north-northwest of Cumbres Pass, it is the highest point in Conejos County. The peak is recognized as a prominent thirteener, notable not only for its elevation but also for its strong visual dominance over the surrounding landscape. Its location in a protected wilderness area gives it added significance as part of one of southern Colorado’s most remote and rugged regions.
