Marion County veterans who gave their lives fighting for American freedom against world terrorism are remembered here. It has become customary, when a serviceman or woman is lost on the battlefield, to arrange their boots, rifle, and helmet in the configuration shown as a Battlefield Memorial. The surviving members of their squad gather around this memorial to honor their fallen comrades.
