Nature
Lovewell Mountain rises 2,473 feet on the Sunapee Ridge in southwest New Hampshire. The 50-mile Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway crosses the mountain, and ledges near the summit offer broad views of the surrounding landscape. Much of the mountain is covered in northern hardwood forest, with red spruce common at higher elevations. Its watersheds split between east and west: the east side drains through Beards Brook into the Contoocook and Merrimack rivers before reaching the Atlantic, while the west side flows through lakes and unnamed streams into the North Branch watershed and then back to Beards Brook near its junction with the Contoocook.
