Yard Peak is a 12,706-foot summit in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah, on the border of Duchesne and Summit counties within the High Uintas Wilderness and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Part of the Rocky Mountains, it is Utah’s 40th-highest summit. The mountain rises steeply above nearby terrain, standing about 2,100 feet above Allsop Lake within a mile. Nearby peaks include Ostler Peak, The Cathedral, and Dead Horse Peak. Its waters drain north to the East Fork Bear River and south to the headwaters of Rock Creek, a tributary of the Duchesne River. Yard Peak stands in a subarctic, tundra-like high-mountain environment within one of Utah’s most rugged wilderness landscapes.
