The Shavers Fork Mountain Complex is a broad group of high ridges in eastern West Virginia flanking Shavers Fork across parts of Randolph, Pocahontas, and Tucker counties. Much of the river corridor and surrounding mountains lie within Monongahela National Forest, including about 20,000 acres of designated wilderness. Anchored by Cheat Mountain on the west and Back Allegheny Mountain and Shavers Mountain on the east, the complex includes notable summits such as Bald Knob and Gaudineer Knob. Its history includes Civil War fortification at White Top, extensive early 20th-century logging, and major reforestation in the 1930s. Severe weather, red spruce forests, and protected backcountry define the area today.
