Haynes Settlement was one of the oldest Black settlements in Livingston Parish and the only one known to be shown on a map. It was named for the Haynes family. The property was crossed by the Brakenridge and Thomas railroads. Galilee Baptist Church was established there in 1884 by Rev. C. C. Clayton.
