This pioneer cabin, built in 1799, was owned by Edward Bebe, father of William and the first Welshman to settle in Morgan Township, Butler County. The cabin originally stood on Dry Fork Creek about 4 miles southeast of this site. William Bebb was born here on December 8, 1802, becoming the first white child born in Butler County west of the Great Miami River. In 1959, residents of Morgan Township and the community, under the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus W. Beard, Mr. and Mrs. Byron E. Dearmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnie E. Baker, established this park site by various contributions and named it Gov. William Bebb Park in reverence to this Ohio citizen. The cabin was reconstructed on this site under the direction of Bruce W. Diehl, park director of Butler County, with assistance from the Butler County Historical Society, Butler County Park Board, Butler County Commissioners, Butler County Engineer, Butler County Budget Commission, Morgan Township Farm Bureau, Hamilton Journal News, Oxford Press, Oxford Museum Association, and Anthony Wayne Parkway Board. Earl R. Hogan, Butler County Recorder from 1941 to 1961, presented the plaque, and the cabin and park were dedicated on June 17, 1961 A.D.
