South Bald Mountain is the highest summit in the Laramie Mountains, a range within the Rocky Mountains of northern Colorado. Located in Roosevelt National Forest southwest of Red Feather Lakes, it is the tallest of the five peaks that make up Bald Mountain and has also been known simply as Bald Mountain. Nearby Deadman Hill is identified as having a subalpine climate, and conditions for the South Bald Mountain area are similarly represented through interpolated climate data rather than direct measurements at the summit. The mountain is especially recognized for its topographic prominence and its protected national forest setting.
