Comstock Covered Bridge in Montgomery, Vermont, carries Comstock Bridge Road over the Trout River and remains a working one-lane crossing. Built in 1883, it is one of the town’s historic covered bridges and a well-preserved example of a Town lattice span, set on stone and concrete abutments and enclosed with vertical siding beneath a metal roof. The bridge was built by local brothers Sheldon and Savannah Jewett, whose surviving bridges in Montgomery and nearby communities form one of Vermont’s best-documented bodies of work by a single builder. Its historic importance was recognized with National Register listing in 1974, and a full renovation in 2003 helped ensure its continued preservation and use.
