Elk Mountain
Nature
Elk Mountain is a peak in the northern Teton Range within Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, standing on a ridge just west of Owl Peak near where the Tetons begin to merge into the Yellowstone Plateau. Estimated at between 10,720 and 10,800 feet in elevation, it is the northernmost summit in the Teton Range to rise above 10,000 feet. That placement gives it a modest geographic significance, marking the point beyond which the sharply defined Teton crest transitions northward into the broader high country of the plateau.
