Uri Seeley House
Painesville, Ohio · 969 Riverside Drive
History
12
Built in 1819 for Uri Seeley, one of the earliest settlers of Lake County, this classic Greek Revival colonial is attributed to master builder and architect Jonathon Goldsmith, whose simple yet elegant craftsmanship and architectural designs are especially known for distinctive front doorways. The house retains original detailed woodwork and a functional floor plan. Seeley and his family were dedicated to the anti-slavery movement and used the residence as a stop for travelers on the Underground Railroad. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
