At the peak of its operation, Maybury Sanatorium employed about 480 people, and nearly half lived in various buildings on the grounds. In this area, the Inn and the Women's Dormitory housed female staff. The single-story dormitory provided rooms for medical attendants and women employed in the kitchens, dining rooms, and laundry, while dieticians, occupational therapists, technicians, and office personnel were housed at the Inn. In 1941, Superintendent and Medical Director Dr. H.S. Willis wrote that a sanatorium required more than buildings, jobs, and sick people, but also spirit, interest, loyalty, vision, and accomplishment.
