Rainbow Lake Wilderness is a 7,135-acre wilderness area in northern Wisconsin within the Chequamegon unit of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Managed by the United States Forest Service, it is a heavily wooded landscape centered on Rainbow Lake, with fifteen other lakes and nine small ponds. Water and evidence of earlier logging shaped the area, and many lakes are accessible by former logging trails and rail grades, including part of the North Country National Scenic Trail. Entirely bordered by Forest Service roads, the wilderness includes northern hardwoods, balsam fir, pine, and paper birch, with hiking, fishing, camping, and areas considered old-growth forest.
