Rehoboth Church is the oldest extant Protestant church west of the Alleghenies. It was erected in 1786 on land donated by Edward Keenan. Bishop Francis Asbury preached here in July 1788, held three Methodist conferences in the 1790’s, and performed the first Methodist ordination west of the Alleghenies. It was named a Methodist shrine in 1960 and listed on the National Register in 1974.
