A private museum in Ipava, Illinois, preserves the history of the Easley family, who founded the town, alongside material on Camp Ellis, the nearby World War II Army camp. Owned by an Easley descendant, it holds extensive genealogical records connected to the town’s founders and their descendants, many still living locally. Its Camp Ellis collection includes numerous artifacts from the camp, which was declared excess in late 1949 except for land kept by the Illinois National Guard and approved for disposal on 1 December 1949. The site also includes the restored Freeman School #179 and what is believed to be John Easley’s original log cabin school, highlighting local pioneer life, education, and wartime history.
