On March 16, 1940, an explosion ripped through Hanna Coal Company's #10 Mine at Willow Grove, resulting in the deaths of 72 Ohio Valley men from Bannock, Bellaire, Belmont, Bridgeport, Fairpoint, Glencoe, Lafferty, Maynard, Midway, Neffs, Provident, St. Clairsville, Stewartsuille, Warnock, and Willow Grove.
