Berkshire No. 7 is a sunken wood-and-steel barge in Bridgeport Harbor, historically important as a transitional canal barge and one of the few surviving wooden-hulled canal boats. Built in 1935 in Brooklyn for Stewart J. Dailey, its design retained strong 19th-century canal boat traditions despite no recorded canal service. From 1941 to 1972 it carried bulk cargo, including fertilizer, before being moored with two other barges in the harbor. In 1974, one vessel began taking on water and dragged the others down, sinking Berkshire No. 7. Its rarity and unusual preservation led to its 1978 listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
