During World War II, James R. Adams of the Army Air Corps, a staff sergeant with the 465th Bomb Group (Heavy) of the 15th Air Force, served as a bombardier and was killed in action; he lived from 1917 to 1944. Harold R. Line, a technical sergeant in the 7th Air Force, served as a B-24 waist gunner and was also killed in action; he lived from 1924 to 1944.
