Belknap Complex, also called Belknap Grove, is an old-growth landscape of three giant sequoia groves in the Tule River watershed of Giant Sequoia National Monument south of Camp Nelson, California. Combining McIntyre Grove, Wheel Meadow Grove, and Carr Wilson Grove, it covers 4,666 acres and is known for its dense concentration of mature sequoias and relatively easy access. Its notable trees included the Patriarch Tree, famous for its huge trunk, the larger remains of the Gutless Goliath, and the Kathryn Tree with exceptionally large limbs. In 2020, the Castle Fire burned much of the complex at high intensity, destroying the Patriarch Tree and causing major loss to this significant sequoia stand.
