Bengower is a 664-metre mountain in Connemara National Park, County Galway, at the southern end of the Twelve Bens. Its Irish name, Binn Gabhar, is usually taken to mean “Goats’ Peak,” though that origin is uncertain. Positioned between Benbreen and the lower summits of Benlettery and Benglenisky, it forms part of the range’s central skyline. The northern ridge rises from Mám na Gaoithe and requires some scrambling. With 196 metres of prominence, it qualifies as a Marilyn, ranks 135th on the Arderin scale and 166th on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale, and is the sixth-highest of the core Twelve Bens.
