Cathedral Rock is a 6,724-foot mountain in Washington’s Cascade Range within the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Wenatchee National Forest. Rising among rugged neighboring peaks, it drains into tributaries of the Yakima River and sits in the marine west coast climate zone that brings heavy winter rain and snow, with clearer summers under Pacific high pressure. Geologically, it is an intrusive andesite volcanic complex in a sharply sculpted part of the Cascades. The surrounding wilderness was shaped by volcanism, tectonic accretion, uplift, faulting, and repeated glaciation, and Cathedral Rock remains both a striking part of that landscape and a destination for climbers on routes from scrambles to technical rock ascents.
