Elk Mountain is an 8,802-foot summit in northeastern Nevada’s Elko County, in the northeastern part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest about two miles south of the Nevada-Idaho border. Its name preserves the memory of elk that once roamed the area. Today, the mountain is chiefly recognized as a named high point in the remote borderland landscape of northern Elko County.
