Canyons Resort grew from Park City West, founded in 1968 as a sister area to Park City Mountain Resort, into Utah’s largest standalone ski and snowboard resort before its 2015 merger into the larger Park City Mountain Resort. Through several ownership changes and renamings, it expanded to 4,000 acres across nine peaks, with 182 trails, 19 chairlifts, and major upgrades under Talisker Corporation, including Iron Mountain terrain and North America’s first heated-seat chairlift. Easily reached from Salt Lake City and Park City, it also developed as a year-round destination with hiking, biking, family attractions, and a concert venue, and its former base now survives as Canyons Village at Park City.
