Faith and family have long been valued in Rosman, as in the settlement’s early days. Among the first churches were Zion Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, and the Church of God. Zion was formed about 1848, and an 1857 deed places the Church of Christ at the Zion Meeting Place at Eastatoe Ford. Zion remained there until 1950, when it moved across the river to Main Street. Rosman United Methodist Church began about 1909 by purchasing the old Presbyterian church, which had been used as the town’s school, and its first minister, Rev. R. C. Kirk, was appointed on November 7, 1909. The Church of God was organized about 1933 after a revival led by traveling pastor Carl Cox; at first its members met at the Showhouse in lower Rosman, and in 1939 Joseph Silversteen donated the land where the church stands. All three churches remain active, with descendants of the founding families still attending, and they are joined by the Rosman Baptist Tabernacle and the Pentecostal Lighthouse.
