The Art Loeb Trail is a 30.1-mile long-distance route through Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina, running between Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp and a point near Davidson River Campground outside Brevard. Dedicated on November 9, 1969, it was named for Brevard hiker Art Loeb of the Carolina Mountain Club. The trail crosses prominent high-country terrain, including Black Balsam Knob, Tennent Mountain, and Pilot Mountain, with Appalachian balds, exposed ridgelines, and broad views shaped in part by earlier logging and fires. Popular with backpackers, day hikers, and endurance runners, it is admired for both its beauty and its demanding conditions.
