Shoe Bar Ranch owner J.K. Zimmerman donated land and funds for Union Hill Church and an adjoining cemetery in 1897. The first recorded burial was for Maggie (Durham) Hudgins (1878-1898). The International Order of Odd Fellows established I.O.O.F. Cemetery on the east side of Union Hill in the 1920s. In 1987, the two cemeteries were combined under the care of Lakeview Cemetery Association. Historic grave marker materials include marble, granite, galvanized tin, cement, fieldstones, and metal funeral home markers. Veterans dating from the Civil War are interred here. Woodmen of the World gravestones are also prominent. The active cemetery is a cherished chronicle of generations of citizens of Lakeview and the surrounding area.
