In the 1860's, miners, granite quarry freighters, and stagecoach drivers used a halfway camping ground 333 yards to the southwest on Little Willow Creek. Others built homes, boarding houses, two stores, three saloons, a slaughter yard, a blacksmith shop, a warehouse, and a livery stable, and F.A. Hoofman and Co. maintained a real estate office with John W. Lawrence as agent. The population reached about 500. After 1871, the town was moved to Little Cottonwood Canyon and renamed Ragtown. Several unmarked graves are all that remain.
