Seymour Mountain, in the Seward Range of the Adirondacks near Harrietstown, New York, rises 4,120 feet and ranks thirty-fourth among the Adirondack High Peaks. Its earliest recorded ascent came on October 1, 1872, when surveyor Verplanck Colvin reached the summit with guides Dave Hunter and Hank Parker. Colvin named it Ragged Mountain in 1873, but it was later renamed for former New York governor Horatio Seymour. Known for remote access and an unmarked summit route, it remains a distinctive peak approached from Coreys Road by way of the Ward Brook Truck Trail and a steep path near Ward Brook.
