Trout Brook Valley State Park Reserve
Nature
Trout Brook Valley State Park Reserve in Easton, Connecticut, is a 300-acre state-owned part of the larger 1,009-acre Trout Brook Valley Preserve along the southeast corner of the Saugatuck Reservoir, managed by the Aspetuck Land Trust. Its broader importance grew from a major preservation campaign in the late 1990s after plans emerged to sell and develop undeveloped land near the reservoir for luxury homes and a golf course. Led by the Aspetuck Land Trust and the Coalition to Preserve Trout Brook Valley, and backed by environmental groups, residents, outdoor users, and supporters including Paul Newman and his family, the effort secured the land in 1999 and kept a substantial open landscape from development.
