Piute State Park in Utah lies on Piute Reservoir north of Junction along the main fork of the Sevier River. A primitive park with no facilities, it is focused on the reservoir and its open shoreline rather than developed amenities. The reservoir was built in 1908 by Robert D. Young, who also built nearby Otter Creek Dam. Both Piute Reservoir and Piute County were named for the Native people once dominant in the area, though the legislature changed the spelling from Paiute to Piute. The park is now used for simple outdoor recreation, especially camping, swimming, boating, and trout fishing.
