In 1805 John Charles built this stone house for Samuel Davies, brother-in-law of General William Lytle. During the War of 1812, the local militia met here, and Simon Kenton sometimes attended these meetings. Military Courts of Inquiry met here until 1833. It is one of the oldest houses in Clermont County.
