Mount Blue State Park in Weld, Maine, spans 7,489 acres around Webb Lake and nearby mountain slopes and summits, blending beach, forest, and upland terrain. Its development began in the 1930s with Works Progress Administration crews, and Maine acquired the property from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1955. A major expansion in 2002 added 2,468 acres, including Hedgehog Hill, enlarging the park by about half. Used year-round for swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and ATV use, it also offers a nature center and campground and connects by road to the extensive Tumbledown Public Lands.
