Nature
Saddleback Junior is a mountain in Franklin County, Maine, in the high country between Saddleback Horn and Poplar Ridge. Along the southern edge of the U.S. Navy Survival Escape and Evasion Training Facility, it stands within the Kennebec River watershed, with runoff reaching the Gulf of Maine through different branches. Its northeast and northwest slopes drain by Redington Stream to the South Branch of the Dead River, while its east and south sides flow through Hardy Stream and Orbeton Stream to the Sandy River. The Appalachian Trail crosses its summit between Saddleback and Spaulding Mountain, placing it on one of the United States' best-known long-distance footpaths.
