Green River Reservoir State Park
Nature
Green River Reservoir State Park in Hyde Park, Vermont, encompasses about 5,500 acres along the 653-acre Green River Reservoir and is managed as an intentionally undeveloped, low-impact recreation area. Rather than a conventional state park with built facilities, it emphasizes quiet water-based use and a backcountry atmosphere. Visitors can camp, swim, boat, fish, picnic at designated day-use sites, and watch wildlife, but access is deliberately limited by scarce parking and boat-only picnic areas. Its defining feature is twenty-eight remote campsites scattered around the reservoir, all reachable only by boat. Strict limits on motorized use help preserve the reservoir’s calm, shoreline wilderness character.
