Nevins Covered Bridge in Parke County, Indiana, spans Little Raccoon Creek at a crossing first known as Gilkerson's Ford, where Thomas Gilkerson settled in 1821, built a mill in 1823, and helped form a small community tied to milling, trades, farming, and later flatboat traffic. The present bridge, a single-span Burr Arch Truss road bridge, was built in 1920 by Joseph A. Britton and Son and became the last of Parke County’s historic covered bridges to be constructed, as well as the final bridge credited to Britton. Named for Thomas Levi Nevins, a local miller and schoolteacher, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
