Old Morgan Springs lies beneath the municipal building and was named after General Daniel Morgan of Revolutionary War fame. Water from the spring furnishes a portion of the supply used by the fountain in front of the building. The city of Morganfield was established in 1811 on part of a military grant that was given to Daniel Morgan, and Morganfield was named for him.
