The Sinks is a waterfall on the Little River in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee that was created by loggers, who dynamited the river to break up a massive log jam rather than by natural processes. Its easy roadside access has made it the park’s most visited waterfall and a popular place for picnicking, swimming, and cliff jumping in warm weather. Despite its popularity, the water is powerful and dangerous, and the site has seen multiple drownings and serious injuries, including the recovery of a kayaker’s body there in December 2022.
