Conococheague Mountain is a long, narrow ridge in far western Perry County, Pennsylvania, largely within Tuscarora State Forest, with Round Top rising to 2,190 feet at its southern end. Near Blain, it is crossed by trails and dirt roads and has long been shaped by logging, from heavy cutting around the turn of the 20th century to continued timbering of beech, oak, hemlock, and planted white pine. The mountain also serves recreation and hunting, supporting deer, bear, turkey, and grouse. In 2002, a major cleanup at Burns Valley Overlook removed tons of trash, scrap metal, and hundreds of tires after the site was labeled one of Pennsylvania’s “Dirty Dozen.”
