Aloha State Park in northern Michigan occupies 172 acres on the northeast side of Mullett Lake, about six miles south of Cheboygan, at the heart of the Inland Lakes Waterways. Its location has long tied it to boating and lake travel. The park grew from land first used by the Detroit and Mackinac Railway, then abandoned and acquired by Cheboygan County, which assembled enough acreage to qualify as a state park. Donated to the state in 1923, it became a public recreation area for camping, boating, swimming, and fishing. The adjoining North Eastern State Trail follows the old railway bed, linking the park’s recreational role to the region’s transportation history.
