Built by Thomas B. Whitby in the 1870's, this home stood at about 200 North and 350 South, where Thomas and his wife, Emma Sarah Freestone, raised eleven children. Later, when the family could afford a more modern home, the log house was converted to a grainary, as were others in Alpine. In 1994, Calvin and Merlin Whitby, grandsons of Thomas, donated the home to Historic Moyle Park, where it was moved and restored with the help of the Alpine Historical Preservation Commission and Beck and Beck Construction.
