Vogelsang Peak is a prominent 11,498-foot summit in Yosemite National Park’s Cathedral Range in northeastern Mariposa County, California, valued for sweeping views and its commanding rise above surrounding high country. Named in 1907 by Col. H. C. Benson, it may honor either Charles A. Vogelsang of California’s State Fish and Game Commission or his brother Alexander Theodore Vogelsang of the State Board of Fish and Game. Its contrasting forms include a steep southeastern arc of rock and a northwestern side cut by cirques and sheer cliffs, helping make it a noted climbing objective and a visual anchor near Vogelsang Pass, Vogelsang Lake, and the Vogelsang High Sierra Camp.
