Fay Peak is a double-summit mountain in Mount Rainier National Park, northwest of Mount Rainier in the Cascade Range. Its western summit is commonly called Fay Peak, while the slightly higher eastern summit is known as East Fay Peak. The mountain honors Fay Fuller, the first woman known to reach Mount Rainier’s summit, after her successful ascent in 1890; the name appeared on a map by 1895 and was officially adopted in 1913. Fay Peak itself was first climbed in 1884 by J. Warner Fobes, George James, and R. O. Wells. Its marine west coast climate brings heavy winter rain and snow, and its runoff drains toward Cataract Creek, Mowich Lake, and the Mowich River.
