Built north of Annapolis, Indiana, in 1897, the J. H. Russell Covered Bridge was a single-span Modified Queen Truss and one of only two Queen Truss covered bridges in Parke County. Closely connected to the Russell farm, it was built by Pearly Weaver and his brother George for $2.50 a day, with Pearly drawing the plans himself despite having no bridge-building experience. Stones from the stream bed formed the abutments, and much of the structure came from timber on the farm, helping reduce costs. Later part of Ralph Jordan’s property, it was moved for barn use in 1970 and torn down in 1983.
