Mount Timpanogos Wilderness is a protected mountain landscape in Utah’s Wasatch front range, centered on 11,753-foot Mount Timpanogos between American Fork and Provo canyons within Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Close to Provo and Salt Lake City, it is among the region’s more heavily used wilderness areas, with hiking as its main draw along trails from Timpooneke and Aspen Grove. The wilderness adjoins Lone Peak Wilderness and includes forests of aspen, fir, pine, oak, maple, and chokecherry, seasonal wildflowers, and wildlife from Rocky Mountain goats to black bear and raptors. It also contains the 1955 crash site of a U.S. Air Force B-25 bomber, where five people died.
