Ames Nowell State Park in Abington, Massachusetts, is a 612-acre public recreation area organized around Cleveland Pond, a man-made pond used for non-motorized boating and fishing. Managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the park also offers trails and boardwalks for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing, along with picnic and play areas. Its deeper significance comes from visible remains of earlier land use, including miles of stone walls, two wagon bridges, and two quarries dating to the 1600s and 1700s. Together these features make the park both a modern outdoor destination and a landscape that preserves colonial-era settlement and work.
