Located on ground donated in 1850 by John C. Beatty, an early merchant and civic leader, this church was built in 1854 - 1855 by Reverend James Dale, its first pastor. The original plans were drawn by John McArthur, Jr., who also designed Philadelphia City Hall. It is well known as a notable example of Greek Revival architecture.
