Watson Pond State Park is a small public recreation area on the east side of Watson Pond in northern Taunton, Massachusetts. Encompassing 10 acres, it centers on a 300-foot swimming beach and offers picnic space, a bathhouse, a pavilion, fishing, and non-motorized boating. The park’s importance lies in providing compact but varied warm-weather recreation for the local community. Watson Pond was closed to swimming for 18 years because of high bacterial counts before reopening in 2006. In 2010, it received favorable mention from the Great Places in Massachusetts Commission, underscoring its value as a local outdoor destination.
