On August 12, 1990, this was dedicated to the coal miners of Southern Illinois, honoring men who dug coal deep in the earth to earn a living, dressed for work when others went to bed, wore faded denims and steel-toe shoes, walked a mile to the mine each night, and took pride in doing important work.
