This road extended through the Choctaw Nation for over 130 miles of rugged terrain and raging streams. Blazed by Colonel Robert Bean and constructed by Captain John Stuart, it carried supplies and moved troops and emigrants through the region. At this point, the route crossed Winding Star Mountain.
